Our team

Co-founders

  • Athena Koh Goldstein

Athena is responsible for everything sustainability at the farm, from operations to programming. She is our resident beekeeper and will spearhead the new composting initiative that will support our organic garden and orchards. She teaches workshops on upcycling, reducing food waste, conservation at JAR Farms and throughout the community.

Before co-founding JAR Farms, Athena attended The Thatcher School, where she was the Honor Council representative for her class in addition to serving as the Head Eco-Rep for her dorm. Athena received the Service-Above-Self Award from the Tiburon-Belvedere Rotary Club in 2021. During the COVID pandemic, Athena Co-Founded 3GuysWhoCare.com with Jack and two friends in the neighborhood. They sewed and sold fabric face masks when even front line workers could not find enough supply, then donated profits to community organizations such as the SF Marin Food Bank.

  • Jack Koh Goldstein

Jack is dedicated to helping other kids use nutrition to promote wellness. Diagnosed with ADHD at age 5, Jack struggled with the debilitating cycle of ADHD medication causing insomnia and insomnia medication causing drowsiness throughout the day, leading to a mental health crisis in high school.

As Co-Founder of JAR Farms, Jack wants to share his ADHD journey with kids who can also feel trapped inside a classroom. Specifically, he focuses on the healing power of nutrition, working with his hands, and connecting with his family. On the farm, he maintains the organic vegetable and herb gardens designed by Lori Ann David of Aurora Farms.

Before JAR Farms, Jack gave back to the community as an intern at Kids Cooking for Life and supporting organic farmers at the Marin County Farmers Market. Jack also Co-Founded 3GuysWhoCare.com with Athena and two friends in the neighborhood.

  • Rex Koh Goldstein

Rex is Jack and Athena’s younger brother and the original inspiration for JAR Farms. Despite coping with ADHD, dyslexia, autism, and selective mutism, Rex is a happy kid in his own world. He loves his dogs, healthy eating, and all things Avengers!

Athena and Jack were motivated to create a wellness sanctuary initially for kids like Rex, but then realized that many kids even without learning differences often need a place to feel safe without the relentless pressure to perform for their parents, teachers, and peers. Due to their love for their little brother and for each other, JAR Farms was born!

At the Farm

  • Nikki Donaldson

Nikki is our Office Manager who keeps JAR Farms organized and humming on all cylinders. With her capacity for communication, community, and compassion, Nikki is a beloved member of the JAR Farms family. Nikki serves her community as a youth pastor and as the office manager for her church.

  • Arturo and Adriel Gil

Arturo and his son Adriel keep the farm in tip top shape as the Maintenance team. From replacing broken roof tiles to patching stucco, from rejuvenating tired flagstone pavers to addressing a water leak, there seems to be nothing that this dynamic duo cannot do!

  • Lucky Goldstein

Lucky Goldstein leads our pack of McNab Shepherd dogs that keep us on our toes. Whether it’s keeping track of the chickens or the McNab foster puppies we host for the Milo Foundation and Mendo Shelter Pet Rescue, Lucky, Xena, and Calli bring joy wherever they go.

Our Mentors

  • Kristen Koh Goldstein

Kristen has always led equally with her brain and her heart. A former Wall Street investment analyst and startup CFO, she has also served on the Board of Trustees of The Bay Area Discovery Museum and the World Affairs Council of Northern California, where she was humbled and inspired by the philanthropy of members such as former Secretary of State George Schultz and Charles Schwab.

Kristen merged these two halves in 2011, when she founded HireAthena to enable CPA moms—some with special needs children—to work from home, nearly a decade before that became the norm.

As a graduate of both Harvard Business School and the School of Hotel Administration at Cornell University, Kristen is thrilled to support her children as they build their dreams at JAR Farms.

  • Lori Ann David

Lori Ann of Aurora Farms is a fearless innovator with a passion not only for sustainable farming, but also for holistic health and wellness practices that become a natural part of a daily routine. She is a natural healer who has a big impact on every single person that she helps. Lori Ann has worked with Jack and Athena in designing the farm’s orchards and gardens and is an invaluable mentor to them both.
